Home caregiver, full-time in Switzerland
Function description
For a partner of ours, we are looking for a home caregiver/companion, full time 24 hours, live in position in Switzerland

Assist a young man with a mitochondrial disease to live independently alongside his family as much as possible. This means being a companion, supporting personal and health care, organizing activities, and supporting existing interests with a constant awareness of access needs. The young man enjoys music, restaurants, nature, travel, comedy, film/television, and the broader digital media space.
Discretion is appreciated to enable private family time and external social interactions when the patient desires
This position is generally open for men due to the physical requirements related to lifting and moving the patient (a young, non-ambulatory tall man)
Requirements
- Naturally cheerful and sunny disposition
- Ability and desire to communicate an infectious and positive outlook on life
- Proven ability to be a team player and work effectively with other, and proven experience as a caregiver is a plus
- Fluent in English, and satisfactory command of French. Other languages are a plus
- Professional and friendly attitude with outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong desire and willingness to adapt and accommodate the patient’s needs
- Be patient, empathetic, observant, and committed to making the young man feel safe and comfortable
- Respond promptly and positively to the young man’s requests for assistance
- Good time management skills
- Physical endurance
- Swiss citizen or holder of a European passport or valid Swiss work permit
- A clean driving license required and a valid passport is necessary
- No criminal record, Non-smoker
- References requested
What can you expect?
- Following a prescribed healthcare plan, which may include assisting with therapy exercises and administering medication
- Assisting with personal care and hygiene (bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing)
- Provide mobility assistance (helping the patient in and out of bed, a chair or a wheelchair) around the house and outside
- Provide feeding assistance
- Provide emotional support and encouragement
- Transporting or escorting the young man to medical and other appointments
- Monitoring and reporting changes in health, behavior, and needs
- Plan daily activities according to the young man’s interests
- Supporting with travel and social activities when necessary
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
